Maintaining Goods at Frozen Temperatures

Temperature Control with Dry Ice or Gel Packs

When travelling or camping for a weekend, use dry ice for temperature control to keep goods frozen. Depending on the size of the cooler or ice chest you will need to add between 5kg and 10kg of dry ice. Dry Ice slices are individually wrapped, and can be easily distributed in a cooler or ice chest.

If you wish to keep food chilled rather than frozen then our gel packs may be more suitable.

In the event of a lengthier power cut, place dry ice in your refrigerator or freezer. Without dry ice food will stay frozen between 3 and 6 hours in the freezer depending on how full it is. The fuller the better, and up to twelve hours for a chest freezer. If you expect that the power will be off for a longer period that this then you can use dry ice. To maintain your freezer contents for 12 to 24 hours you will need about 5kg of dry ice.
